7 Ways to Glow Up this Summer
Hello!! It’s summer 2023, you are having an amazing time doing the things you love, visiting new places, enjoying the company or your friends and family, but somehow you feel like there is something still missing.
The thing that you might be missing is taking time to work on yourself to become the best you there can be! Summer is the perfect time to try new things, to take care of ourselves, and to Glow Up! In this Blog post I am sharing 7 ways to glow up this summer.
1.- Create a Skin Care Routine
There are many different ways you can take care of your skin, one of the the highest recommended things is to wear sunscreen! The UV intensity tends to be higher during the Summer months, and with this we need to be mindful that we must take good care of our Skin. Besides from wearing sunscreen everyday, you should have a good skin care routine overall. You need to hydrate your skin (specially if you go regularly to the beach), wear serums, and always remember to take all of your makeup off before going to sleep.
2.- Workout
Summer is an excellent time to try new workouts. Remember that in order to have a productive workout, you do not need to workout from a whole hour, or go to a fancy gym, or pay for a specific class, you can always go for a short walk or find a fun workout routine online!
This summer I have been trying different workouts. I am the kind of girl who like to join workout classes because working with other people motivates me to keep going. That and the fact that I am a very competitive person.
3.- Drink Water
Drinking water is extremely important, specially if you are out in the sun a lot. Buy yourself a nice and cute water bottle and drink away!
4.- Eat Healthy
You do not need an expensive diet in order to eat healthy. First of all, let me remind you that diets are made for a specific person, what works for one person may not work for the next one. Please don’t try to follow a super strict diet you randomly find online, that diet was very likely made for a specific person with specific needs.
You can always choose to eat healthy by cutting down on trans fats (chips, candy, greasy food) and adding more protein, fruits, and vegetables to your diet! Remember everything with moderation.
5.- Read Everyday
There are so many different reasons why reading everyday will 100% help you glow up this summer, one of those reasons is that we are constantly in front of a screen, it is great to give our eyes a rest. Also, we always learn something new when we read, it doesn’t matter if we read romance, fiction, or a self-help book, there will always be something new to learn.
6.- Prioritize Mental Health
Mental health looks very different on everybody. One of the things I do to prioritize my mental health is to unfollow toxic people from social media. I have realized that I always try to compare myself to people on social media, and I always have to remind myself that not everything we see on social media is real. So for me, it is staying out of social media and just focus on myself.
Another way to prioritize mental health is just by doing whatever it is that makes you happy! Maybe going on a walk, hangout with friends, have a lunch date with someone or just take yourself on a date. I also acknowledge that one of the best ways to prioritize mental health is by seeking counseling when needed, talking to a person who has those tools that will help us is very important.
7.- Create Morning and Evening Routines
Creating routines is what sets you up to success. In the morning, make sure you are doing everything you need in order to have a great day, have a good and healthy breakfast, try to squeeze in a workout, be grateful for having a new day. Morning skin care routines are so important as well, make sure you are wearing all of the lotions you need in your face and of course sunscreen!
To me, my evening routine is the most important. Right before sleep I usually prepare and have ready everything I need for the next day in order to succeed. I usually leave my workout clothe ready, my meal prep and snacks for the following day, my workbag ready, and so on. This helps me prepare for the next day so I am not in a rush and forgetting things, it helps me keep my routines in order as well.
