At some point in our lives, we have all though about the idea of creating habits and sticking to them. Everyone has one specific goal you have been trying to achieve for a really long time, and we all know that you need to have good healthy habits in order to achieve all those goals. In this Blog Post I talked about the 7 healthy habits that have helped me achieve goals.
1) Plan your week ahead.
Something you should be doing every single week week is planning what you need to don the following week. This can be overwhelming, so remember to write down things that are essential, and plan for achievable things! Something you can do is write down the different meetings, homework, readings, commitments, tasks that you have the next upcoming week.
2) Plan your meals.
I don’t know about you but I am one of those people that need to plan my meals and do meal prepping so I can eat healthy. Whenever i get hungry, I am not patient enough to wait until I am done cooking, I usually start snacking and then completely ruin my appetite. Planning your meals is also helpful if you’re trying to save money and not eat out. Nowadays, it is very easy to go on our phones and just order some food, but sometimes (most of the times) we already have food at home.
3) Exercise daily.
Exercising is such a wonderful thing to do, it keeps us healthy, it releases endorphins (aka the happy hormone), and it has endless benefits. You have the power of scheduling some time in your day to workout, and remember, a workout can be a brisk 10 minute walk! I know that taking the time in your day to include this may be very difficult, but you can always find different alternatives, one of my favorites is to have meetings where we walk to get coffee.
4) Stay hydrated.
Drink. Your. Water. I am not a doctor so I can’t tell you how much water you need to drink, but I know that our body needs water in order to function (did you know our body is 60% water?!!). One thing that I have realized lately is that a lot of people are buying nice (and sometimes expensive) water bottles, they take them everywhere, AND they are constantly drinking water! If you are able to, then treat yourself to a nice water bottle and drink away!
5) Read.
This one is a hard one, specially when we like to do other stuff during our free time. But lately I have met a lot of people that say that they wished they read more, and with the right planning this is completely possible! One of my favorite things to do is to read before bed, it doesn’t have to be a whole hour or 30 pages a the time, I like to read 10 pages per night (that’s my goal) and it is also nice for my eyes not to be using my phone scree right before going to sleep.
6) Create systems.
By creating systems I mean doing things so other things are easy to do. For example, I like to have my gym bag ready every morning, this helps me to go workout during the day and it is easy because I have already completed the first step for working out (which is getting my workout clothes ready). I like to do my step #1 so my next steps are easy to achieve.
7) Track your expenses.
A few years ago I realized I was spending too much money and that I was not working on my savings at all. One thing I do now is track my expenses every week. To me this is a healthy habit because it helps me maintain myself within my monthly budget and it helps me with my savings plan!
