Ever since I can remember, I have loved to organize and to plan, and throughout the years I have used different methods to do so. In this blog post I will be sharing the 5 ways I keep myself organized through busy days being a full-time graduate student, having an assistantship, and an internship all at once!!
Here are my 5 tips:
- Google Calendar is your friend:
If you are someone who is constantly using your Gmail or constantly checking you phone, Google Calendar is a must!! I use google calendar to schedule appointments, meetings, and to block-out time for my classes and for when I have to work. Other people can see your google calendar, but they will only be able to see “busy” whenever you have a meeting or something else. I live with my google calendar, I even schedule my lunch and study times in there!! - To-do lists are my passion:
Do you know the great feeling crossing out completed tasks give you? If you don’t, then keep reading. I am a person who loves to-do lists, I usually write a to-do list every single morning of the things I have to do that day, and there is just a great feeling when of accomplishment when I can finally cross things off of it. On days I don’t have a lot to do I usually write things such as “make the bed, take a shower, walk the dog, etc”. Make a list and cross things out when you’re done with it, you’ll feel great. - Set reminders in your phone:
If you are one of those people who likes to use their phone a lot (just like me), then setting reminders in your phone is a good idea. Most modern smart phones are capable of setting recurring reminders for daily, semi-daily, or weekly occurrences!!! - Get yourself a planner:
I am in love with my planner, it is a daily planner, and for every day you have a “Today’s Schedule” and a “To-do” list, I usually write assignments and appointments here as well. There are so many planners you can choose from, if you are a student then you may want a planner that goes from July to June of the next year, just so you have your academic calendar in one single book. - Fridge Calendars are Still a thing:
I love a good fridge calendar!! You can write up important appointments in there and you’ll see it every single time you go to the kitchen!!
